Travel Trailers are very popular throughout Europe, even many citizens from the UK are flexing their travelling muscles and actually taking their travel trailers to other countries in Europe, it can be as easy as driving your travel trailer onto a ferry, then relax until you get to your destination.
It may be surprising to some, but there are a huge number of travel trailer parks around Europe, some of the most popular countries include Spain, France, Belgium, Portugal and Switzerland. You can find some beautiful destinations all across Europe, often with stunning views and excellent facilities such as swimming pools, and who can complain about the sun? There is no doubt that France and Spain are the two most popular travel trailer destinations which a huge number of people flocking to foreign shores to experience something new and get away from their everyday lives.
The thing that strikes most people though is the amount of camping that goes on in European countries such as Spain. Whilst the UK and Ireland have severely caught the travel trailer bug and its popularity does not seem like it will slow down any time soon as it goes from strength to strength, but elsewhere in Europe it’s not as popular, even though they do have a lot of beautiful parks and destinations for travel trailers, it doesn’t seem as admired over there. You will see much more camping sites and a lot of tents out there, one theory is that there is not so much money floating around in some parts of Europe therefore the cheapest option is camping.
The best place to look for these kinds of breaks is on the internet, some travel agents and online offers are available, they can arrange for you to get there with your own travel trailer via a ferry or take the easy option of flying over there and renting a travel trailer one you get there which kind of defeats the object in my opinion, but at least you are not tied down to one area, region or even complex which is what happens on some conventional holidays. The flexibility of a travel trailer means you can just pick up and leave one region in the morning and arrive at another late or in the day, it’s a great way of seeing a certain country as you can travel all around.
The locals in their countries often use travel trailers or tents to get away from their inner city flats or houses and escape to the coast for some sun, sea and sangria on their holidays, like I said before though, the figures around Europe is nothing compared to its popularity in the UK.
It’s really hard to foresee if the other European countries such as France and Spain will embrace the travel trailer culture, one thing is for sure, and they are making more and more beautiful travel trailer and camping sites for tourists. Who knows, maybe in the near future the travel trailer lifestyle could become a European epidemic.
