Preparing for a Travel Trailer Holiday

So you have your travel trailer, it’s all kitted out and you have found your destination or travel trailer park. All you need to do know is prepare and pack before leaving. Yeah doesn’t sound like much but trust me it is, there are so many things to consider and remember that creates a lot of havoc in some households and more often than not causes important things to be left behind.

The first thing to do is to get the travel trailer ready. This involves a proper clean to begin with and throwing out any unwanted clutter and equipment. You may then make sure you have the gas cylinders and a battery, this means you can test that everything works before setting off, at least if something doesn’t work in this testing stage, you will have some time to get it fixed. Always make sure you have enough gas to last you for the duration of the trip or that there are sufficient facilities near by to your stay to allow you to purchase gas. Make sure you purchase the right type of gas also, travel trailers either run on butane gas or propane gas, make sure it’s the right one or things can go very wrong.

If you like you can now start putting things in the wardrobe or storage areas as long as they are secure whilst in transit or have locks, talking of locks, it’s something people always forget so don’t forget to lock the fried door and do not but cutlery and crockery in the cupboards or else it will be carnage, everything will fly out an break everything whilst in transit. It’s a good idea to place suitcases and such equipment in the boot of the car. If you intend to cook most nights you are away, make sure you shop before hand, local shops at caravan sites can be expensive, so get it done before hand and remember to get enough, even if you get too much, it’s important to cover every eventuality.

It’s highly recommended to prepare everything the day before, or even a couple of days before if you like, it’s very easy to forget things so at least it wont be a mad rush as it would be if you left everything to the last minute. If you like and think it will help you may create a checklist of things that need to be remembered or need to be done, as you go around the travel trailer doing your little jobs, you can tick them off your list, there’s so much things to remember it really is hard for someone to remember everything, remember to double-check everything on the list maybe the morning before you leave.

If you are going a long way to your destination and you have a family, you may want to think about the journey and treat it as part of the holiday, brining games, music, sweets and any other forms of entertainment you can think of to stop the children whining and keeping them occupied, also remember to bring enough food. So by laying the ground works you will be preparing for the holiday to go as smoothly as possible and make sure you actually relax and have some fun whilst you’re actually away.
